Ford Hot Rod

Designer: Pawel Wisniewski and Jans Shlapins

Category: Automotive

Year: 2031- 2040

Overview: The concept is pretty far out there. It looks like it was designed for combat rather than cruising the strip. Tiny little windows provide the driver with a slit-like view of the world, while the massive swathes of carbon fiber panels look more like protective armour plating than bodywork.

The wheels are, quite frankly, enormous. The rears must be at least 30-inches in diameter, and like the rest of the car they make extensive use of carbon fiber. The braking system of the Ford Hot Rod concept is particularly unusual. They appear to feature calipers mounted inside the discs, which are themselves mounted on hubless wheels. Not quite sure how it would all work in reality. But then that’s not something anyone needs to worry about in a hurry.

Year: 2031 – 2040

Overview: The Jaguar XK-I concept (the “I” stands for Image) was developed during  Gupta’s internship at Tata Elxsi under the guidance of design director Nick Talbot. The strictly single-seat XK-I looks to have been designed with the race track in mind. It’s bulging, muscular wheel arches are emphasised by the car’s extremely narrow waist and low-slung body. At the rear is a distinctive off-centre fin which characterised the D-Type racers.

Dodge Challenger A/T Untamed Concept

Overview: The Dodge Challenger A/T Untamed concept is based on a 2015 Dodge Challenger. Extensive modifications have been devised which would turn the car into a highly capable off-roader. Chassis upgrades include:
• Long travel front suspension arms
• Rear trailing arm with links
• Body armor with rock sliders
• Front skid plate
• Repositioned exhaust

In order to cope with the significantly larger wheel and tire sizes, as well as the inhospitable terrain on which the Challenger A/T Untamed might well find itself, the bodywork has also been redesigned and given some additional features. Changes include wider arches with new inner wheel arches, an integrated lower light bar, spare tire mount, off-road tool storage compartment, additional safety equipment, and a graphics package with A/T logos.
